Are online classes enough for NEET-2026/JEE-2026 Dropper?

By Rajeev Sir (Teaching since 2013, Mentor to thousands of NEET & JEE aspirants)

These days, I see many students who are preparing for NEET or JEE 2026 choosing only online classes. Maybe it feels convenient, or cheaper, or gives them flexibility. But as someone who has been teaching since 2013, I feel worried when I see students thinking that just online classes are enough — especially in a dropper year.

Let’s talk about the reality. NEET 2025 was one of the toughest exams in recent years. Physics and Chemistry were extremely challenging. Even in JEE Mains, Chemistry was filled with conceptual questions, not just facts. So preparing for these exams is not just about watching recorded lectures and reading notes. It is about mindset, focus, and building the confidence to face the pressure.

When you’re a dropper, you’re not just studying a syllabus — you’re also fighting your past mistakes, your inner fear, and the pressure of expectations from family, friends, and society. This journey is like a war, and to win it, you need the right training, the right support, and the right environment.

I’m not saying online classes are useless. They are helpful for some students, especially those who are highly disciplined, have already taken coaching earlier, and know how to study on their own. But for most students, especially those who struggled earlier or lack consistency, online-only preparation becomes lonely and unstructured.

That’s where offline or hybrid coaching helps a lot. In offline classes, students are surrounded by others who are also working hard. You get to interact, ask questions freely, discuss doubts, and learn different ways to solve the same problem. Even when you’re not in class, just talking to your batchmates and seeing their approach gives you new energy. The environment itself keeps you serious and regular. You automatically become more focused.

I remember one of our students, Deepwinyl Sarkar, who recently got selected in AIIMS Patna. When he joined our dropper batch at Rajeev Classes, he was far from confident. But he came to class regularly, worked on his weak areas, and followed the system seriously. Over time, his marks improved by around 250 — and he made it. That’s what a good offline system can do. It brings out the best in you.

Many students ask me, “Sir, can’t I crack NEET or JEE with just online classes?” My honest answer is — maybe you can, but it depends. If you are already very strong in concepts, have great self-discipline, and don’t need much guidance, then yes, it might work. But for the majority of droppers, especially those who have struggled before, I strongly recommend at least some offline support. Even if you do most of your classes online, attend doubt sessions offline, give tests in a classroom, and find a mentor to guide you personally.

In the end, preparation is not just about finishing the syllabus. It is about building a rhythm, getting feedback, staying motivated, and having someone to guide you when you feel low. Online classes can be a part of your journey — but don’t make it your only way. Combine it with a strong environment, mentorship, and regular offline interaction if possible.

If you’re preparing for NEET or JEE in 2026, don’t just focus on where you study. Think about how you study, with whom you study, and who’s guiding you. This is your second chance — make it count.
