India is currently one of the most affected countries because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The cases have been increasing with each passing day. As a safety measure, the government of India recently cancelled the class 10 exams and postponed the class 12 exams for CBSE board students. After this decision, several states and universities have either cancelled or postponed various board and entrance examinations. As the class 12 exams have been postponed, a lot of students are now wondering about the NTA NEET 2021 exam. Why NEET may be postpone or not?

The major exams including CBSE class 12 boards have been postponed to June due to the increasing effect of COVID cases. On that account, the chances of NEET 2021 being postponed is a heated debate/hot button issue. According to the official education minister said, “The Board Exams for Class XIIth to be held from May 4 to June, 14, 2021 are hereby postponed. These exams will be held hereafter. The situation will be reviewed on 1 June 2021 by the Board, and details will be shared subsequently. A notice of at least 15 days will be given before the start of the examinations.”

In consideration of the postponement of CBSE board exams, various state boards , including Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Maharashtra, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha have postponed class 12 exams. Along with this CBSE and Haryana Board class 10 exam got cancelled.

Till date, it is tough to predict the chances of NEET postponed further. If the COVID cases will be out of control, the Indian Government will implement a nationwide lockdown. In case of strict lockdown alike last year, there will be chances of NEET 2021 postponements. The surge in COVID-19 cases will increase the chances that NTA may decide to postpone the NEET 2021 exam.In contrast to it, NEET 2021 exam is scheduled to be held on August 1, which is just a few months away. As it is expected and a beacon of hope that the COVID situation will be under control till the date of the NEET exam. So, in that scenario, NEET 2021 may not postpone.

What NTA say about postponement?

Other than releasing the NEET exam date , NTA has not released any notification regarding the NEET 2021. No official statement has been shared by NTA on the postponement of NEET 2021. Students are now waiting for the NEET 2021 application form and bulletin to release.
